Family Outdoor Photos

by Tim at 08:45PM

Here are the family photos from a couple of weeks ago when Jon and Emily Beaty (http://www.beatyphotography.com) met us at a local church and took outdoor family photos as well as Everett’s 6 month old photos.  We are thrilled with the way they came out!  We love Jon and Emily.

The previous post is Everett’s 6 month photos from the same session.  Let us know if you want any printed copies—we have full rights to print them ourselves and the Beatys also have an online printing service available.

Surgery a Success!

by Steph at 02:21PM

Hey guys! After a VERY long morning that started at 4:30, we got home (well back to Tim's parents house) around 9:30 this morning. He was the smallest guy they had so he was the first one on the books this morning for surgery. Unfortunately there was a large accident on I-44 this morning so we had to wait while there was triage in the OR.

Dr. McDonald was awesome. I am so blessed to have a physician like this available to us, my sister is a true Godsend. Everett was VERY upset, VERY, VERY upset. He SCREAMED like mad for 30 minutes in recovery, I have never seen this child scream like this. I was quite terrified. He has been crying on and off very sporadically all day, usually when he burps or moves too quickly.  We have a really “cool” set of plugs for him to wear whenever he’s in the water (tub, pool, shower, etc) so that water doesn’t get back into the ears through the tubes.

The doctor said that he was able to clean his ears out and they were extremely full, both of them (no surprise). He also said that he should be hearing much better with the tubes in and should be hearing very well now. Apparently having an ear infection with as much puss in there as he had is like having cotton balls in your ears continuously, and for him it was both ears. So, that being said, tubes are in and all should be better by later in the weekend!

Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes and text messages smile. Hopefully he should be back to our normal sweet boy sometime next week!!!

Tubes on Thursday

by Steph at 07:09PM

We went for the pre-op with Dr. McDonald today.  Alyssa worked some SERIOUS magic and got Everett in with an ENT up at St. Johns and somehow scheduled for a surgery in a week!  Dr. McDonald was amazing, I was so happy to finally see a competent doctor that knew what he was doing.

He looked at his ears and sure enough they were still infected and the second ear had finally ruptured.  They are full of puss and all sorts of nastiness.   Amazing, considering he has been on 5 different rounds of 10 day antibiotics, an antibiotic shot, and antibiotic drops!

He will be cleaning them out, irrigating and putting tubes in both ears on Thursday morning.  We have to be at St. Johns at 5:30 in the morning, meaning… we will be leaving the farm at 4:45!!  It’s going to be a long day!

I am so thankful to have wonderful family that can do these sorts of things for us.  There is no way we could have made it until the 16th for the other procedure.  He is totally miserable.  Please keep him in your prayers as our main concern is putting a 6 month old under for a procedure like this, neither one of us want to do it, but we don’t have many options left.

I will keep you posted!

We made it!

by Steph at 10:33PM

After a very long drive, with many stops…we finally made it to Missouri for the weekend!  Emma was very excited to come and visit.  She had been asking to “ride a pony” for weeks!  Emma thought it was very exciting to finally get here and see Grandma and Papa.  It took a while to get both kids settled down, but Grandma helped with the baths.

Emma’s Gymnastics!

by Steph at 09:15AM

Okay, so apparently Emma knows how to do a forward roll.  She demonstrated it for us last night and I got it on video!  If you can hear what she is saying, she does  a forward roll, stands up, bows and says, “Thank you.  Oh Man!”  I’m still laughing :)

Lazy Weekend

by Steph at 09:45PM

We didn’t do much this weekend.  In fact, we haven’t done much in a while, it’s hard to get out with Everett not feeling well.  We were also suffering from some serious allergies this weekend :(

Who doesn’t love a good Everett kissy??

Everett and his ears…

by Steph at 03:13PM

I forgot to post about this, sorry!

Everett went to the ear, nose and throat specialist on Friday.  We were informed that one ear drum had already ruptured (reason for the oozing) and that both were still infected.  He is scheduled for surgery to have tubes put in on June 16 (the earliest available date).

As nice as it is to know that there is an end to this, we are still going to have to fight constant infection until then.  Please pray for a better month for him than the last was.  He is in a lot of pain, not sleeping well and is getting restless from taking so many meds.

Thanks!

Happy Birthday Emilia!

by Steph at 11:07PM

Today was Emma’s friend Emilia’s 4th birthday party!  It was a princess themed party and there were a ton of screaming little girls there!  She even had a pony for the girls to ride and Emma had a blast.  They painted their finger nails and ate princess cake (which I made!)…it was a great day!

Princess PJ’s

by Steph at 10:51PM

Emma got new pj’s over the weekend.  When Heather and I were shopping, we found a couple of two packs and one “dress/gown” that had the Little Mermaid on it.  Not only that, but they had a pair of slippers and a “magic” wand with them.  Emma is VERY into princesses and was in LOVE with them as soon as I showed them to her.

She wore them 3 nights in a row to bed, there was no way to talk her out of wearing them.  In fact, the day I brought them home, she wore them the rest of the evening.  She’s just lucky Heather talked me into buying it because, “Every little girl needs a princess pj’s gown.” :)

It’s Clean Now!

by Steph at 10:46PM

Emma got her shirt dirty when she was playing with sidewalk chalk outside.  After coming in, I told her that she needed to change so she promptly tore her shirt off and tossed it on the floor.  I explained that dirty laundry doesn’t go on the floor, it goes in the basket.  So she picked them up and went to put them in the basket.  Along the way she got distracted and came back out with the same shirt on, except, she had it on inside out and backwards.  Her explanation, “Look Mommy, it’s all clean!”

Mowgli

by Steph at 10:39PM

Emma’s favorite pastime is to well…strip down to her panties and dance around the house!  She frequently leaves her pants off after she goes potty, but somehow, by the end of the day she is down to just panties.

Tim came home from work one afternoon and found her dancing in her panties so he greeted her with, “Hi Mowgli!”  We’ve been calling her that off and on ever since.  Her haircut makes her fit the part even better.  I can’t wait until mid-summer when she has a nice tan. :)

For all you non-Disney movie watchers out there, “Mowgli” is the  character from the beloved classic The Jungle Book.

See the resemblances???

Mother’s Day Dinner

by Steph at 10:51PM

Tim took me out to a nice Mother’s Day dinner at Cheddar’s.  That is by far, my new favorite place to eat!  Not just because it’s right down the street, but it’s good, cheap and fast!  Sorry we didn’t get to spend the day with the grandmas, but I hope each of you enjoyed your call from Miss Emma…she was VERY excited to tell you all Happy Mo’v’ers Day :)

Everett sat at the table with us like a big boy.
