September Catch Up!!

by Steph at 03:03PM

Once again I have failed to keep the blog updated!  We have been crazy busy and I am finding it hard to keep on top of this thing.  Anyways, enough of my excuses, here is the good stuff…

Emma dead asleep with all of her lights in her room on.  She is refusing to take naps, so some days she falls asleep on her own when she gets bored.

Westin and Summer came to visit on Labor Day weekend.  We had a wonderful time and enjoyed their visit!  While they were here Summer helped me do some craft projects in the house, she’s really talented!  Thanks Summer!!

Cakes

I have been doing a lot of cakes recently.  Different requests, some baby shower and some birthday, but LOTS of cakes!  Tim always comes in and tries to get pictures of me working on the cakes.

Sewing

I have been making lots of Emma’s dresses for the winter!  I made this outfit out of an old pair of shorts.

Crafty

by Steph at 11:49PM

Emma decided she wanted Fruit Loops for a snack.  In an effort to make snack time more “educational” I taught her how to string the Fruit Loops with yarn and a yarn needle.  We counted, named colors (not really a challenge anymore) and made patterns with the cereal.  Kinda  boring, but it burnt about an hour out of the afternoon.  ;)

Sunday at Home

by Steph at 09:46PM

We missed church today, Tim has been sick this weekend and Everett has been coughing for a while now.  I took him to the doctor on Thursday and she said it was just allergies (it’s really not bad at all compared to Tim) and drainage.  As far as the fussiness, she said it’s probably just teething!  Tim on the other hand, was MISERABLE with a summer cold.  We are just hoping Emma and I don’t catch it and that Everett’s doesn’t get any worse!

Since we were stuck at home, we made “magic mud” (cornstarch mixed with water) and discussed it’s properties.  She thought it was neat that you could form it into a ball and then the ball would melt in your hands.  However, you can tell she’s definitely my kid…she would not have anything to do with sticking her hands in it!  If she got even the slightest amount on her hands she had to wipe it off immediately :)

Later in the afternoon, Emma requested to go swimming and Tim thought some time outside might clear out his head a little.  The kids had fun!

After swimming, Emma was tired and cranky.  She didn’t want to eat dinner and as a desperate last attempt to get a little food down her, I agreed to put sprinkles on her macaroni.  It did work, she ate a little!

Everett was difficult to entertain today (he’s very fussy from his teeth).  He played in the bean bag and then they both took a bath…it seemed as if night-night could not get here quick enough today!  He did have a good time with Emma and the bubbles in the tub though :)

Donuts and “Poppets”

by Steph at 09:19PM

Emma and I made donuts for breakfast on Saturday morning.  She specifically requested chocolate, with sprinkles (of course!)  According to Emma they were “deeeelicious!”  Everett enjoyed his as well :)

Saturday evening Emma requested to make a “poppet” (aka, a paper bag puppet).  We had already made a pig earlier in the week, but she had been asking to make the crab (really it’s a lobster) ever since.  They are a set of 6, out of the Martha Stewart craft line…I got them on super clearance when our Michael’s was moving across town!

Outfit for Emma

by Steph at 12:37PM

I had a mom’s craft day yesterday and this was the result.  Emma refers to it as the “cupcake outfit”.  I think it’s a little big, but she might grow into it.  I did all the sewing and applique!  Thanks for the help Carrie!

ReeRee’s Birthday Present – Pfaltzgraff Highchair

by Tim at 10:53PM

For ReeRee’s (my mother) birthday, Steph took Emma’s white, wooden highchair and painted it to match ReeRee’s Pfaltzgraff pattern, complete with the floral design on the tray.  I think she did an awesome job and my mother loves it.  As far as we know, it is one-of-a-kind and since it was her granddaughter’s highchair she says it is even more dear to her.  Happy birthday, Mom!

Autumn Placemat

by Steph at 10:03AM

Today we made an Autumn placemat.  Emma enjoyed choosing which of the colorful leaves to put on her contact paper.  She also made one for Lucas since he was a little to young to do it himself.  Mommy helped with the sticky paper!
