The fourth and final recap of our fun-filled family vacation is visiting with Great Granddad (my grandfather) and Jennette (my step-grandmother). Steph, Emma and I were able to spend three nights and two days with them at their home in Virginia. We had a great time visiting and catching up. Emma was a little shy at times but she really enjoyed playing the "mine!" game with Granddad (he would pretend to take her blanket and say it was his, and she would say, "No, MINE!" and grin and take it back from him). And she gave them both kisses and hugs goodnight.
We also took Emma to see various sites while we were there, including the Children's Museum (where she especially enjoyed the trains) and the Virginia Aquarium (Emma loves sea turtles, like in the movie Nemo). We went swimming at the country club and went for a walk along the shore. The adults stayed up and watched Michael Phelps make Olympic history, which was really exciting. Jennette is an avid swimmer and was able to give us additional insight into things we might not have noticed. Granddad was full of entertaining stories, both past and present. Unfortunately, we weren't able to catch up with my Uncle Dan this trip but hopefully next time we can get together.
Here are some of the photos that we took while staying with Emma's great grandfather on Tim's side of the family. Hover over the photos for their captions.
